Description

This is the uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet Nikolay Kuznetsov, the uniform was very similar to the Red Army "M45 Paradnyy Mundir", this was introduced by the order of People's Commissar of the Navy  245 of June 6th, 1945. It is a Double-breasted uniform of aqua with two rows of large gilt uniform buttons, six in a row (two hidden under the belt) with the emblem of the Soviet Union. The second button from the top on the left side removable for purposes of medal fitting such as on Marshal Rokossovsky's uniform where he placed his two Hero of the Soviet Union's where his button would have been. Unlike the Red Army uniform, the borders around the edges of a cloth were not piped white, but black instead matching the rest of the uniform however it did share the thick oak leaves pattern on the collar and sleeves and visor cap. The visor cap was different from the Red Army as the actual visor had oakleaf designs on it, compared the plain visor of the Red Army Marshal's. This uniform was canceled by the order of the People's Commissar of the Navy  40 on 20th Febuary, 1951 in favour of Cold War-era double breasted open collared  jacket.

Although the rank of "Admiral of the fleet of the Soviet Union" was not officially issued until 1955, Admiral Kunetsov was awarded a new title that equated to the Red Army's "Marshal of the Soviet Union" on the 25th May 1945 and wore similar shoulder boards to the Marshal except with a different star design, this pattern would later be used for the "Admiral of the fleet of the Soviet Union" shoulder board in 1955 onward.
